NASA 112,000 unregistered vape products na tinatayang mahigit sa P50 milyon, kasama ang buwis na dapat bayaran nito, ang nasamsam ng mga ahente ng Bureau of Customs sa Port of Manila.

Ayon kay BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, ang unang shipment ng kontrabando ay agad na namarkahan dahil sa kuwestyunableng mga impormasyon na natanggap ng Enforcement Group, kaya inisyuhan ang nasabing shipment ng Pre-Lodgments Control Order (PLCO) sa kahilingan ni Deputy Commissioner Teddy Raval.

Bunsod nito, ipinag-utos na suriin ng Aduana ang laman ng dalawang 40-foot high-cube containers. Dito nalantad ang 233 karton na naglalaman ng 46,600 assorted flavored vape products, na may estimated market value na umabot sa P23,300,000, na may duties and taxes na dapat sanang bayaran na nagkakahalaga ng P30,204,936.21.

Agad na ipinag-utos ng BOC ang pagkumpiska sa unregistered vape products na unang idineklara bilang insulated cups sa Port of Manila (POM).

Pinangunahan ni BOC Commissioner Rubio, kasama sina Deputy Commissioner for the Enforcement Group, Atty. Teddy Sandy S. Raval, Port of Manila District Collector Alexander Gerard E. Alviar, Acting Director of the Enforcement and Security Service Isabelo S. Tibayan III, at mga kinatawan mula sa Department of Trade and Industry – Office of Special Mandate on Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products (DTI-OSMV), ang pagsusuri sa kargamento noong March 18, 2025.

Nagpalabas ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) sa nasabing kargamento si Port of Manila District Collector Alexander Gerard E. Alviar dahil sa paglabag sa Section 1113 in relation to Section 1400 ng Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), at Republic Act No. 11900 otherwise known as Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act.

Samantala, sa hiwalay na subalit may kaugnayan na operasyon, nasamsam naman ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) – Port of Manila team ang nasa 66,150 undeclared vape products na itinago din sa insulated cups.

“The illicit items had an estimated total value of PhP72,434,250, with supposed revenue of PhP39,359,250,” ayon sa ulat ng BOC.

Umabot sa 112,750 unregistered vape products na may aggregate estimated value na P102.639 milyon, ang kabuuang nasamsam sa magkahiwalay na operasyon.
